Every VA Medical Center has a dedicated Military Sexual Trauma (MST) Coordinator—your personal guide to MST-related care. You do not need to have reported the assault, have documentation, or be enrolled in VA health care.

 

Your MST Coordinator can help you:

  • Understand your treatment options

  • Get connected with counseling

  • Schedule MST-related care

  • Navigate the VA system with someone who truly listens

VA Vet Centers
(Private, Community-Based Counseling

Vet Centers offer counseling in smaller, more private settings.
 

No documentation. No insurance. No cost.

 

Support includes:

  • Individual therapy

  • Family or relationship counseling

  • MST-specific counseling

  • Reintegration support

Free MST Counseling &
Trauma Treatment

MST-related care through the VA is:

  • Free

  • Confidential

  • Available to every veteran—regardless of claim status

 

Services include:

  • Trauma-focused therapy (CPT, EMDR, PE, etc.)

  • Mental health counseling

  • PTSD, anxiety, and depression treatment

  • Group therapy

  • Medication management

Women Veterans Program Managers (WVPMs)

Every VA Medical Center has a WVPM who advocates for women veterans and helps navigate:

  • Health care enrollment

  • MST services

  • Claims support

  • Gender-specific care

 

They're your internal champion in the VA system.

Help Filing your MST-Related
VA Disability Claim

If you're seeking a disability rating related to MST, the VA offers:

  • Support from specially trained MST claims processors

  • Gender-sensitive examiners for C&P exams

  • The option to request a female provider

 

You do NOT need medical records or an official report to file. You can also submit:

​​

  • Personal Statements

  • “Markers” (changes in behavior)

  • Buddy statements

  • Personal journals or letters

  • Any indirect evidence that supports your experience

 

If you need help filing, we provide valuable information about the process and the documents you will need in order to file.
